The International Year of St Paul

 

A special Jubilee Year in honour of St Paul the Apostle has been declared by Pope Benedict XVI.

This Jubilee year will commence on 28th June 2008 and run through to 29th June 2009.

St Paul was renowned for spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ, and converting many Gentiles during his

three missionary journeys, and we often hear excerpts from his many letters to the Christian Communities of his time,

during the 2nd Reading at Sunday Mass.

            

                This statue of St Paul is situated on one of the 

                 interior walls of our Church. It is fashioned from wood

               and was installed in the time of Fr Pat Faherty,

              being dedicated to the memory of May Harris on 11th April 1986.

As St Paul is the patron saint of our parish, our Parish Priest, Fr David Catterall, has commissioned Mr Ryan Kernaghan, a member of the Parish Pastoral Council, to produce a monthly supplement on the life and achievements of this special saint.
